Resumo:
Os serviços de abastecimento de água têm por obrigação manter uma boa administração de perdas e um melhor aproveitamento dos recursos hídricos. O município de estudo foi a cidade de Jaguaribe-CE, cuja Instituição escolhida foi o Serviço Autônomo de Água e Esgoto - SAAE. Atualmente a instituição não dispõe de equipamentos que possam mostrar precisamente os índices de perdas. O estudo realizado proporciona discussões para um futuro próximo de escassez de água. O objetivo geral deste trabalho é mostrar os benefícios da macromedição subsidiando a discussão sobre as perdas no sistema de abastecimento de água do SAAE no município de Jaguaribe-CE. O elevado índice de perdas de água reduz o faturamento das empresas e, consequentemente, sua capacidade de investir e obter financiamentos. Além disso, gera danos ao meio-ambiente na medida em que obriga as empresas de saneamento a buscarem novos mananciais. No que tange o delineamento da pesquisa e em relação à abordagem do problema, este estudo denota ser uma pesquisa quantitativa, exploratória, descritiva e bibliográfica/documental. Conclui-se que, através da pesquisa realizada observou-se a necessidade do recadastramento na forma de divisão das equipes para visitas nas residências coletando dados, detectando possíveis irregularidades; a aquisição e instalação de um macromedidor; e um trabalho de conscientização educativa com a sociedade sobre o controle das perdas e a necessidade de economia de água, uma vez que, este bem está cada vez mais escasso na natureza. Portanto, com um investimento na área de combate as perdas de água no sistema de abastecimento, as vantagens adquiridas no ponto de vista ambiental, somente serão efetivos se a autarquia tiver no seu planejamento estratégico as ações necessárias para o bom funcionamento do sistema, evitando o desperdício, consequentemente gastando menos energia e garantindo o abastecimento de água à população.

Abstract:
The water supply services are obliged to maintain a good management of losses and a better utilization of water resources. The municipality of study was the city of Jaguaribe-CE, whose chosen Institution was the Autonomous Service of Water and Sewage - SAAE. Currently, the institution does not have equipment that can accurately show the loss indexes. The study provides discussions on the near future of water scarcity. The general objective of this work is to show the benefits of macromediation by subsidizing the discussion of losses in the water supply system of the SAAE in the municipality of Jaguaribe-CE. The high water loss index reduces the companies' revenues and, consequently, their capacity to invest and obtain financing. In addition, it causes damage to the environment as it forces sanitation companies to seek new water sources. Regarding the design of the research and in relation to the approach of the problem, this study denotes a quantitative, exploratory, descriptive and bibliographic / documentary research. It was concluded that, through the research carried out, it was observed the necessity of the re-registration in the form of division of the teams for visits in the residences collecting data, detecting possible irregularities; The acquisition and installation of a macromeditor; And a work of educational awareness with society on the control of losses and the need for water saving, since this good is increasingly scarce in nature. Therefore, with an investment in the area of water losses in the supply system, the advantages acquired from the environmental point of view, will only be effective if the municipality has in its strategic planning the necessary actions for the proper functioning of the system, avoiding the Less energy and ensuring the population's water supply.
