IRMANDADE, DEVOÇÃO E ROMANIZAÇÃO: A VIDA MATERIAL DA CONFRARIA DE NOSSA SENHORA DO ROSÁRIO DE QUIXERAMOBIM-CE (1896-1923)

Resumo:
O presente trabalho tem como objetivo fomentar uma discussão sobre a Irmandade de Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Quixeramobim, no sertão central cearense, tentando analisar esse grupo, formado em sua maioria por pessoas simples de duas famílias negras da cidade, os Barroso e os Matias, através da construção da devoção a partir da materialidade, analisando os bens que essa confraria conseguira reunir ao longo de sua existência e os usos feitos de tais objetos, que possibilitavam a criação de uma série de “relações de poder” entre os membros do grupo, observadas através de uma documentação bastante variada, produzida pela própria irmandade. O recorte principal compreende os anos de 1896 a 1923, quando os estatutos da dita irmandade passaram por várias reformulações, reflexo do chamado movimento de romanização da Igreja Católica. Sendo assim, trata-se de uma pesquisa onde além de conhecer o que era uma irmandade, sua estrutura e funcionamento, será possível também mergulhar por entre os objetos que faziam parte do dia a dia da confraria.
This work has the objective of promoting a discussion about the Lady of the Rosary of Quixeramobim Brotherhood, in the central outback area of Ceará, attempting to analyze this group composed in its majority by simple people from two black families in town, named Barroso and Matias, through the construction of devotion from materiality, analyzing the assets this brotherhood managed to collect throughout it’s existence and the uses made of such objects, which made possible the development of a series of “power relations” between it’s members, observed through a varied documentation, produced by the brotherhood itself. The main timeline comprehend the years from 1896 to 1923, when the brotherhood’s constitution records went through several reformulations as a reflex of the so called romanticism movement of the Catholic Church. Therefore, it is a research where, besides discovering what was the brotherhood, it’s structure and how it functioned, it will also be possible to dive amongst the objects that made part the brotherhood’s daily activities.
