Over the years the textbook of mathematics in Brazil has undergone several changes both in
the political aspect, physical and didactic aspect, this last one due to the changes in the
National Curricular Parameters. The collection The Conquest of Mathematics had its first
edition put into circulation in 1976, with 40 years serving the Brazilian education. The
Didactic Book is of great importance for the permanent progress of the student, provides him
with cultural and social development, a contribution of knowledge for the elaboration of the
lesson plan of the teacher. The History of Mathematics is a pedagogical resource that aims at
the valorization of knowledge, awakens in the student the questioning as theorems were
constructed. The objective of this work is to investigate the didactic books of the 6th grade
collection of Elementary School II and its predecessor, to collect and examine data on how it
proceeded to the insertion of the History of Mathematics in the work. The methodological
procedure will begin collecting and examining data from the 3 books of the collection always
with the look at the driving question. The perspective with this work and to guide future work.
