A polidez linguística presente nas narrativas de mulheres sobre o diagnóstico tardio de autismo

O fenômeno da Polidez visa mostrar como as pessoas ao interagirem socialmente têm uma preocupação em construir uma imagem de si, bem como não ameaçar ou constranger o outro com sua fala. Diante disso, este estudo apresenta uma análise da linguagem de mulheres autistas, que receberam seu diagnóstico tardio de autismo, tendo como objeto o fenômeno da polidez linguística nas narrativas dessas mulheres autistas com diagnóstico tardio de Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA). Dessa maneira, foi verificado como elas utilizam as estratégias de polidez linguística para preservar as faces e proteger seus territórios, adotando postulados de Brown e Levinson (1987), para analisar as estratégias on-record, off-record e bald-on-record; Leech (1983), observando o uso das máximas conversacionais assim como as escalas de polidez sugeridas pelo autor; e Spencer-Oatey (2005), verificando o gerenciamento de faces das mulheres autistas. Para compreender a linguagem dessas mulheres neurodiversas, foi realizada uma análise qualitativa das narrativas referentes ao diagnóstico tardio de autismo, disponíveis na rede social do Youtube, em que elas possuem canais que abordam sobre o Transtorno do Espectro Autista. Para a análise, suas falas foram transcritas a partir do modelo da Análise da Conversação de Marcuschi, adaptado pela autora, inspirado na adaptação de Teixeira (2011). Como resultados da análise, constatou-se que mulheres autistas, ao narrarem seu diagnóstico tardio de autismo, em seu canal do Youtube, usam estratégias de polidez linguística para proteger as faces e controlar a abertura de seus territórios. A partir desses resultados, sugerimos uma desconstrução de estigmas enraizados de que pessoas autistas são alheias aos sentimentos dos outros, bem como elas mantêm e aprimoram seu relacionamento com seus interlocutores a fim de produzir pertencimento ao grupo dos neurodiversos.
Abstract:
The phenomenon of politeness aims to show how people when interacting socially are concerned with building a self-image, as well as not threatening or embarrassing the other with their speech. Based on that, this study presents an analysis of the language of autistic women who received a late diagnosis of autism, having as its object the phenomenon of linguistic politeness in the narratives of autistic women with a late diagnosis of ASD. In this way, it was verified how they use linguistic politeness strategies to preserve faces and protect their territories, adopting the postulates of Brown and Levinson (1987), to analyze the on-record, off-record and bald-on-record strategies; Leech (1983), observing the use of conversational maxims as well as the politeness scales suggested by the author; and Spencer-Oatey (2005), verifying the autistic women's face management. To understand the language of these neurodiverse women, a qualitative analysis of the narratives regarding the late diagnosis of autism, available on the Youtube social network, in which they have channels that address the Autistic Spectrum Disorder, was performed. For the analysis, their speeches were transcribed from Marcuschi's Conversation Analysis model, adapted by the author, inspired by Teixeira's adaptation (2011). As results of the analysis, it was found that autistic women, when narrating their late diagnosis of autism, on their Youtube channel, use linguistic politeness strategies to protect their faces and control the opening of their territories. Based on these results, we suggest a deconstruction of deep-rooted stigmas that autistic people are oblivious to others' feelings, as well as that they maintain and improve their relationship with their interlocutors in order to produce a sense of belonging to the neurodiverse group.
