TU E VOCÊ NO FALAR DE FORTALEZA-CE: VARIAÇÃO E AVALIAÇÕES LINGUÍSTICAS

O objetivo central desta pesquisa é descrever e analisar a variação pronominal na função de sujeito tu/você no falar culto de Fortaleza-CE. Também fizemos uma análise da atitude e do comportamento linguístico dos falantes de nossa amostra em relação a essa variável. Com base na Teoria da Variação e Mudança Linguística, delineada por Weinreich, Labov e Herzog (1968), e na Teoria do Poder e da Solidariedade (BROWN; GILMAN, 1960), e nos Testes de Atitudes (LAMBERT, 1967). Este estudo pauta-se por investigar o uso da língua em tempo aparente, realizando análise a partir de um quantitativo expressivo de dados, tratados estatisticamente pelo programa GoldVarb X (2005). A amostra é constituída por 18 informantes do PORCUFORT (Português Culto de Fortaleza), com entrevistas coletadas entre os anos de 1993 e 1995, e distribuídas por três faixas etárias (22 a 35 anos; 36 a 55 anos e 56 anos ou mais) e sexo/gênero (masculino; feminino). E, para os testes de atitudes, 152 informantes responderam a um questionário. Investigamos quais fatores linguísticos, estilísticos e sociais favorecem a ocorrência do pronome tu. Tivemos como resultado do PORCUFORT um total de 654 ocorrências, distribuídas entre as seguintes variantes: tu (16,1% com 105 dados), você (56,3% com 250 dados), cê (22,90% e 250 dados) e o senhor (4,7% e 31 dados). Fizemos uma rodada binária no GoldVarb X com as formas tu e você, que apresentou 7 variáveis relevantes para o uso do pronome tu na função de sujeito: sequência discursiva, entonação frasal, faixa etária, tipo de pronome, grau de simetria entre os informantes, paralelismo formal e sexo. A sequência narrativa mostra-se como a mais relevante, seguida das frases interrogativas como favorecedoras do pronome tu. A determinação do referente mostra-se também significativa. As conversas em que havia informantes em total simetria favorecem o uso do tu. Vale também reforçar, ainda, que os mais jovens também são responsáveis pelo uso do tu, bem como as mulheres. Já, quanto ao paralelismo formal, o tu precedido de tu é o que mais beneficia o uso do pronome em questão. Os resultados gerais desta pesquisa apresentam indícios de uma mudança em curso, pois, na variação tu/você, o pronome tu apresentou uma maior probabilidade de uso na faixa etária mais jovem; já o pronome conservador você predominou na faixa etária mais velha. A comparação da avaliação e do comportamento linguístico dos falantes de nossa amostra aponta reações subjetivas bastante uniformes em relação ao tu/você, o que parece indicar que um novo padrão de prestígio está entrando no falar de Fortaleza, o tu, mas que este ainda não alcançou uniformidade no uso real, já que neste falar ainda predomina o uso do você. Abstract:
The central objective of this research was to describe and analyze the pronominal variation Tu/você in Fortaleza-CE. We also made an analysis of the attitude and linguistic behavior of the speakers of our sample in relation to this variable. Based on the Theory of Variation and Linguistic Change, outlined by Weinreich, Labov and Herzog (1968), and in Theory of Power and Solidarity (BROWN; GILMAN, 1960), and Attitude Testing (LAMBERT, 1960), this study is designed to investigate the use of language in apparent time, performing analysis from an expressive quantitative data, treated statistically by the program. The sample consisted of 18 informants from the PORCUFORT (Portuguese Cultured of Fortaleza), with interviews collected between 1993 and 1995, and distributed in three age groups (22 to 35 years, 36 to 55 years and 56 years or more), and sex/gender (male and female). And, for the attitude tests, 152 questionnaires answered. We investigated what linguistic, stylistic and social factors favor the occurrence of the pronoun tu, an innovative variant in this speech community. We had as a result of PORCUFORT a total of 654 occurrences, distributed among the following variants: tu (16.1% with 105 data), você (56.3% with 250 data), cê (22.90% and 250 data) and sir (4.7% and 31 data). We made a binary round in GoldVarb with the forms Tu/você, which presented 7 relevant variables for the use of the pronoun tu in the subject's function: discourse sequence, phrasal intonation, age group, type of pronoun, degree of symmetry among informants, parallelism formal and sex. The narrative sequence proved to be the most relevant, followed by the interrogative phrases as favoring the pronoun tu. The determination of the referent was also significant. The conversations in which there were informants in total symmetry favored the use of você. It is also worth emphasizing that the younger ones were also responsible for the use of you as well as women. As far as formal parallelism is concerned, the tu preceded by you was the one that most benefited the use of the pronoun in question. The general results of this research showed signs of a change in progress, since in the Tu and você variation, the innovative pronoun tu presented a greater probability of use in the younger age group; already the conservative pronoun você prevailed in the older age group. The comparison of the attitude and the linguistic behavior of the speakers of our sample pointed to fairly uniform subjective reactions to Tu and você, which seems to indicate that a new prestige pattern is entering the Fortaleza speech, but tu have not yet achieved uniformity in actual use, since in this talk still the use of você predominates.
