O estudo se debruça sobre a docência de Irmã Elisabeth Silveira, cujo nome de batismo era Maria José Bastos Silveira, mas ficou conhecida pelo primeiro nome desde que se tornou freira. Essa educadora dedicou mais de 60 anos de sua vida à causa educativa no Colégio da Imaculada Conceição, Fortaleza-CE, instituição confessional onde permaneceu vinculada desde os 10 anos de idade até falecer, atuando no magistério, na coordenação e na direção geral. O objetivo foi compreender a docência da professora irmã Elisabeth Silveira na sua interrelação com o contexto socioeducativo no período de 1943-1968. Metodologicamente, amparou-se nos preceitos da História Cultural, que alargou as possibilidades de fontes de pesquisa e tornou passível de estudo qualquer vestígio humano; na Micro-História, que oportuniza o conhecimento do aspecto geral a partir do estudo do singular; e na Biografia como gênero acadêmico. A coleta de dados procedeu por meio da História Oral com cinco entrevistadas (duas ex-alunas, duas amigas e uma sobrinha da biografada) entrecruzada com outras fontes – jornais, livros de homenagens, fotos, certificados e outros documentos pessoais. Os resultados apontam que Elisabeth Silveira foi uma mulher que gozou de trajetória formativa privilegiada incrementada por capital cultural e informacional diferenciado, pois somente as moças mais abastadas tinham acesso e davam continuidade à educação formal no cenário cearense do século passado, e ela pôde usufruir dessa educação, bem como da possibilidade de atuar em um dos mais prestigiados colégios do estado do Ceará, o Imaculda Conceição. Enquanto a família residia na cidade de Pacoti, Irmã Elisabeth morou em Fortaleza com duas tias e iniciou a escolarização no Grupo Escolar Santos Dummont, e, mais tarde, aos 10 anos de idade, entrou no Colégio da Imaculada Conceição, onde concluiu o Curso Normal, aos 17 anos. Na sequência, retornou a Pacoti para auxiliar nas atividades domésticas, na educação dos irmãos mais novos e também lecionar no Grupo Escolar Menezes Pimentel. Aos 23 anos decidiu se tornar freira e entrou para a Congregação das Filhas de Caridade de São Vicente de Paulo, quando fez voto de caridade, de pobreza e de castidade. Como professora, nota-se que ela reproduziu as práticas educativas empreendidas pelo grupo de religiosos onde estava inserida desde criança: práticas tradicionais com foco no disciplinamento das estudantes. Organizou o Grupo Luízas de Marilac sob o intuito de disseminar a caridade entre o público idoso das periferias da cidade, e este deu origem ao Grêmio Lítero-Recreativo para a discussão de obras clássicas e de escritos religiosos. Fundou a Associação das Ex-alunas do Colégio da Imaculada Conceição, até hoje em atividade combinando a educação religiosa com obras de caridade. A vida profissional de Elisabeth Silveira como educadora religiosa demonstra que ela vivenciou momentos de transição da educação local e nacional, como o contexto da Ditadura Militar, a implantação do ensino ativo, o advento da informática e o enfraquecimento dos colégios confessionais. Abstract:
The study focuses on the teaching career of Sr. Elisabeth Silveira, whose baptismal name was Maria José Bastos Silveira, but became known by her first name since becoming a nun. This educator dedicated more than 60 years of her life to the educational cause at the College of the Immaculate Conception, Fortaleza-CE, a confessional institution where she remained linked from the age of 10 until her death, working in teaching, coordination and general direction. The objective was to understand how Elisabeth Silveira's teaching unfolded in the interim of the end of the first and the beginning of the second half of the twentieth century (1943-1968). Methodologically it was based on the precepts of Cultural History, which widened the possibilities of research sources and made any human trace possible for study; in Microhistory, which provides the knowledge of the general aspect from the study of the singular; and in Biography as an academic genre. Data were collected through oral history with friends, alumni and a family member of the biography, interspersed with other sources - newspapers, honor books, photos, certificates and other personal documents. The results show that Elisabeth Silveira was a woman who enjoyed a privileged educational trajectory enhanced by differentiated cultural and informational capital, since only the wealthiest girls had access and continued formal education in the Ceará scenario of the last century, and she can enjoy this education. , as well as the possibility of acting in one of the most prestigious colleges of the state of Ceará, the Immaculate Conception. While her family lived in the city of Pacoti, Sr. Elisabeth lived in Fortaleza with two aunts and began schooling at the Santos Dummont School Group, and later, at the age of 10, entered the College of the Immaculate Conception, where she completed the Normal Course. at 17 years old. He then returned to Pacoti to help with domestic activities, the education of younger siblings and also to teach at the Menezes Pimentel School Group. At the age of 23 she decided to become a nun and joined the Congregation of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, becoming a nun when she vowed to charity, poverty and chastity. As a teacher, it is noted that she reproduced a tradition education characterized by menonic operations, religiosity and discipline, and with the founding of the group Luízas de Marilac spread the charity among the elderly public of the outskirts of the city, giving rise to Grêmio Lítero- Recreational for the discussion of classical works and to develop modesty in students. Founded the Association of Past Pupils of the College of the Immaculate Conception, still active today, combining charity and religiousness. Elisabeth Silveira's professional career as a religious educator demonstrates that she experienced moments of transition from local and national education, such as the context of the Military Dictatorship, the implementation of active teaching, the advent of computer science and the weakening of confessional schools.
