The study of the quality of life in the work, either in public or private organizations
aims to take care of the necessities of the employees, with the intention to decide, or to
diminish problems that harm its performances, as well as getting the growth, the
prosperity of the organization and the humanization in the environment of work. In this
manner, the general objective of this research it was to identify the perception of the
employees not professors concerning the QVT, in the Institutions of Superior Education
located in Fortaleza and its Region Metropolitan, over all had to a significant
quantitative increment of IES, beyond the relevance of these professionals in the
execution of diverse and important activities that exert in the academic environment.
For this, it was applied a questionnaire in Likert scale for the 553 employees not
professors, on the basis of the theoretical model of quality of life in the work developed
for Richard Walton (1973). The treatment of the data was carried through by descriptive
and inferencial statistical methods. Therefore, it was carried through percentile, average
calculations, tables of frequency and after that applied the test of Kruskal-Wallis. It
agrees to detach that for the descriptive treatment it was used the Excel software and the
inferencial treatment for the software Statistical Package will be Social Sciences
(SPSS), version 18. Analyzing itself in a general way, it was verified that amongst the
eight inherent categories to the model of Walton, the six following ones had been
pointed in satisfactory way for the respondents: Conditions of work, Use and
development of capacity, Constitutionalism and Work and total space of life, had been
distinguished the categories over all Relevance of the life in the work and Social
Integration in the company. On the other hand, of unsatisfactory form the categories had
been verified Adequate compensation and Chance of growth. This study was limited to
analyze highest and lowest results (means) concerning the categories of QWL, its main
contribution it was to evidence the IES of small large had demonstrated resulted
differentiated and bigger in terms of average, comparison the IES of medium and great
one, over all concerning the Appropriate compensation category. It is suggested to
investigate the reason of this result differentiated in the IES of small transport, as well
as the accomplishment of studies that they more contemplate of form detailed the
evaluation of the satisfaction degree and the importance of each indicator that composes
the categories of the QWL.
