O presente artigo tem como foco investigar as atribuições, limites e desafios do professor- tutor na atual sociedade da informação e do conhecimento, no panorama da Educação à Distância (EaD). A realização desse estudo buscou investigar teoricamente o trabalho do professor-tutor na EaD, mostrando sua importância, prática, valorização, dificuldades, atribuições, limites e desafios. A pesquisa baseou-se em autores que tornavam mais evidente o estudo do tutor em EaD e suas características. A metodologia desenvolvida consistiu em uma revisão bibliográfica, com vista à realização de uma análise documental. O estudo verificou que o professor-tutor é de fundamental importância para uma EaD de qualidade, ele deve ter qualificação profissional acadêmica, formação humana, domínio das Tecnologias Digitais da Informação e Comunicação (TDIC), ser ético, digno, ter conhecimento pedagógico, afetivo e tecnológico. A proposta procura mostrar que a Educação de Qualidade é possível quando esse profissional é valorizado e nos faz acreditar que vale a pena. O estudo tem sua revisão bibliográfica e conceitual sustentada nos trabalho dos autores Belloni (2002), Pretti (1996), Pretto (2003), Lobo Neto (2001), Machado; Machado (2004), Oliveira; Mill; Ribeiro (2009), César (2012), Leal (2008), Seed-PR(2010), Maia (2002), Litwin (2001), Magalhães Júnior; Cavalcante; Silva Neta (2015), todos aqui importantes por tratarem teórica e metodologicamente de questões da educação à distância.

Abstract:
This article focuses on investigating the powers, limits and challenges of the teacher-tutor in the current information society and knowledge, in the panorama of distance education (DE). The present study sought to theoretically investigate the teacher-tutor's work in distance education, showing its importance, practice, appreciation, difficulties, responsibilities, limitations and challenges. The research was based on authors that makes it clear the study of the tutor in distance education and their characteristics. The methodology consists of a literature review, with a view to conducting a desk review. The study found that the teacher- tutor is very important for a quality distance education, it should have academic qualification, human, field of Digital Technologies of Information and Communication (TDIC), be ethical, dignified, have pedagogical knowledge, affective and technology. The proposal seeks to show that quality education is possible when this professional is valued and makes us believe that it is worth. The study has its literature and conceptual review supported the work of the authors Belloni (2002), Pretti (1996), Pretto (2003), Lobo Neto (2001), Machado; Machado (2004), Oliveira; Mill; Ribeiro (2009), César (2012), Leal (2008), Seed-PR(2010), Maia (2002), Litwin (2001), Magalhães Júnior; Cavalcante; Silva Neta (2015), here all important for treating theoretical and methodological issues of education at a distance.
