A TRADUÇÃO DOS EFEITOS SONOROS EM LEGENDAS DO SERIADO

Resumo:
Esta pesquisa teve como tema: a tradução de efeitos sonoros na Legendagem para Surdos e Ensurdecidos (LSE). A motivação para a pesquisa surgiu no curso de Especialização em Tradução Audiovisual Acessível/Legendagem - UAB/UECE, em que apresentaram, dentre outros assuntos, a tradução de efeitos sonoros em LSE. A curiosidade surgiu por causa da disponibilidade dos closed captions em português e em inglês do seriado O Mecanismo da Netflix. O objetivo geral foi analisar como foram traduzidos os efeitos sonoros do seriado O Mecanismo em português e em inglês. Como objetivos específicos, tivemos: I) identificar e quantificar os efeitos sonoros que foram traduzidos em português e em inglês; II) apresentar as implicações do que foi traduzido em uma língua e não foi em outra; III) categorizar os efeitos sonoros traduzidos; IV) identificar as semelhanças e diferenças entre as traduções nos dois idiomas. Essa pesquisa, que é descritiva e de abordagem quanti-qualitativa, teve como embasamento teórico: Araújo, Alves, Mauch e Naves (2016), Araújo (2008), Nascimento (2013; 2015), Araújo, Monteiro e Vieira (2013), que abordam as questões de Legendagem para Surdos e Ensurdecidos; e Nascimento (2013; 2015) que apresenta estudos sobre os efeitos sonoros em LSE. Concluímos que as duas legendas apresentaram uma significativa quantidade de efeitos sonoros, porém a legenda em inglês teve um maior número de ocorrências de efeitos sonoros. O fato de o número de efeitos sonoros ser maior na legenda em inglês do que na em português, remete-nos um cuidado maior com o público-alvo do legendista que produziu a legenda em inglês. Verificamos que das cinco categorias de pesquisa, duas foram as mais recorrentes, a de sons causados pelos homens e por objetos, isso pode se dar ao fato de que os legendistas julgaram que os sons da natureza, dos animais e das músicas não eram tão relevantes, quanto os outros dois e que esses efeitos sonoros poderiam ser entendidos pelas imagens, não sendo necessário a utilização deles nas legendas. Por fim, percebemos que enquanto em português utiliza-se a forma nominal dos verbos no gerúndio, em inglês utiliza-se mais o tempo verbal no presente do indicativo, o que nos dá a ideia de que na primeira temos ações contínuas, com processos verbais não finalizados (como se estivéssemos nas cenas) e na segunda temos a ideia da ação que ocorre no momento em que se narra (as cenas são narradas e não estamos nelas). Abstract:
This research had as its theme: the translation of sound effects in the subtitling Subtitling for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SDH). The motivation came from the participation in the graduation course in Tradução Audiovisual Acessível/Legendagem - UAB/UECE, in which they presented, among other aspects, the translation of sound effects in SDH. The curiosity arose because of the availability of the closed captions in English and in Portuguese of the series O Mecanismo by Netflix. The main aim was to analyze how the sound effects of the series O Mecanismo were translated in Portuguese and English. As specific aims, we had: I) to identify and quantify the sound effects that were translated into Portuguese and English; II) to present the implications of what have been translated into one language and not into the other one; III) to categorize the translated sound effects; IV) to identify similarities and differences between the translations in the two languages. This research is descriptive and it has a quantitativequalitative approach, we had as theoretical foundation: Araújo, Alves, Mauch and Naves (2016); Araújo (2008); Nascimento (2013, 2015) and Araújo, Monteiro and Vieira (2013), who presented issues on the Subtitling for Deaf and Hard of Hearing; and Nascimento (2013; 2015) who presents studies about the sound effects in LSE. We conclude that the subtitles had a significant number of sound effects, however the subtitle in English had had a greater number of occurrences of sound effects. The fact that the number of sounds effects is higher in the English subtitle than in Portuguese one, brings to us that the translator who did it in English had a greater care with the target audience. We verified that among the five research categories, two of them were most recurrent, the one with sounds produced by men and the one with the sounds produced by objects, this can be done to the fact that they translators thought that the sounds by the nature, the ones by the animals and the songs were not so relevant as the others, and these sound effects could be understood by the images, without the necessity of subtitles. Finally, we realize that they used nominal form of the verbs in the gerund in the subtitles in Portuguese snd in English they used more the simple present tense, which seems that in Portuguese there is the idea of continuous actions, with non-finite verbal processes (as if we were in the scenes) and in English we have the idea of the action happening at the moment it is narrated (the scenes are narrated and we are not there).
