A VELOCIDADE DE LEITURA NA LEGENDAGEM PARA SURDOS E ENSURDECIDOS: UM ESTUDO DE CASO DA SÉRIE 3%

Na construção da narrativa audiovisual, o/a cineasta leva em conta a composição conjunta e síncrona dos elementos auditivos e visuais. O crítico de cinema francês Michel Chion, em seu livro “A Audiovisão: Som e Imagem no Cinema”, chega a indicar que não vemos um filme com som e nem ouvimos um filme com imagens, e sim “audiovêmo-los”. Para tal experiência, dependemos da recepção de ambos os elementos e, na ausência parcial ou total de um deles, cria-se barreiras à apreciação de tal conjunto. A Tradução Audiovisual Acessível vem trazendo soluções para a transposição de tais barreiras com os recursos de Audiodescrição (AD), Legenda para Surdos e Ensurdecidos (LSE) e Janela de Libras. Os dois últimos são soluções às barreiras auditivas, e a LSE vem se mostrando tecnológica e economicamente mais interessante. O censo brasileiro de 2010 indicou que uma a cada vinte pessoas se encontrava com alguma limitação auditiva. Acredita-se que essa proporção esteja ainda maior no próximo censo de 2020, haja vista o crescente envelhecimento de nossa população. Temos também um aumento da parcela da população consumidora de serviços de fluxo de mídia (Netflix, YouTube), indicando a importância de tal recurso de acessibilidade nesses serviços. Considerando o exposto, este trabalho traz a verificação da adequação da LSE da segunda temporada da série 3%, a primeira série brasileira original da Netflix, às características de seu público alvo. Sendo assim, coletamos as LSE através do site da produtora, as analisamo-nas e verificamos que apenas 2 LSE estão acima do permitido pela Netflix (26 caracteres por minuto). No entanto, segundo o LEAD, o grupo pioneiro de pesquisa em LSE no brasil, 46% das LSE analisadas encontram-se com velocidades muito altas (acima de 180 palavras por minuto). Como ambas recomendações utilizam unidades de medida diferentes para o limite da velocidade, verificamos a influência da unidade utilizada na análise da velocidade de leitura na LSE. Abstract:
Audiovisual narratives have been built by filmmakers taking into account the joint and synchronous composition of auditory and visual elements. French film critic Michel Chion, in his book "Audio-vision: Sound on Screen", indicates that we do not see a movie with sound and do not hear a movie with images, but we hear and see them at the same time. For this experience, we depend on the reception of both elements and, the partial or total absence of one of them creates barriers to the appreciation of them. Accessible Audiovisual Translation has been providing solutions for the transposition of such barriers with Audio description (AD), Subtitle for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing (SDH) and Sign Language interpretation on screen. The latter two are solutions to auditory barriers, and the SDH has been shown to be technologically and economically more interesting. The Brazilian census of 2010 indicated that one in twenty people had some hearing impairment. It is believed that this proportion will be even higher in the next 2020 census, given the growing aging of our population. We also notice that an increasing number of people are consuming more and more media streaming services (Netflix, YouTube), indicating the importance of such an accessibility feature in these services. Considering the above, this work brings the verification of the adequacy of the SDH of 3% series second season, the first Brazilian Netflix original series, to its target audience. Therefore, we collect the SDHs through the producer's website, analyze them and verify that only 2 SDHs are above Netflix limit (26 characters per minute). However, according to LEAD, the brazilian pioneer SDH research group, 46% of the analysed SDHs are at very high speeds (above 180 words per minute). As both recommendations differs on the use of units to measure reading speed limit, we verified the influence of the used unit in the analysis of the reading speed in SDH.
