ESTRATÉGIAS DE REDUÇÃO TEXTUAL NA LEGENDAGEM DA PEÇA ELEFANTE

Resumo:
O objetivo deste trabalho é a proposta de uma relegendagem da legendagem para surdos e ensurdecidos (LSE) da peça teatral Elefante, pela utilização das estratégias de redução textual que podem ser sugeridas para esse meio semiótico ao propor uma relegendagem dos primeiros 10 minutos da peça. A LSE é uma modalidade de tradução audiovisual que consiste na tradução das falas e demais informações que não estão contidas nos diálogos, como a tradução dos efeitos sonoros e identificação dos falantes de uma produção teatral, tornando-a acessível para surdos ou ensurdecidos. A metodologia deste trabalho pode ser definida como uma pesquisa descritiva que relatou o processo de relegendagem de um espetáculo de teatro adulto, segundo os parâmetros preconizados por Díaz Cintas e Remael (2007). O corpus foi obtido a partir da legendagem feita por Deise Medina e Adriana Urpia para a apresentação do espetáculo Elefante, da Probástica Companhia de Teatro, realizada em Salvador, no Teatro Vila Velha, em julho de 2016. A peça conta a história de um jovem que retorna da ilha de Sêneca para uma sociedade supostamente perfeita, onde as pessoas não envelhecem. Dessa forma, a personagem Francisco entabula uma discussão de viés filosófico com seus pais e sua companheira. A hipótese deste trabalho argumenta em favor de estratégias de redução textual como forma de otimizar a produção de LSE bem como em favor da otimização de toda a logística do espaço físico, produção e execução da LSE das apresentações de teatro. Os resultados mostram aspectos técnicos de edição das legendas, tais como o uso de sinônimos mais curtos ou expressões equivalentes, a omissão de sentenças, a adequação de sinais paralinguísticos, bem como desafios de ordem técnica e logística do cotidiano dos profissionais da área de LSE no Brasil. Abstract:
The aim of this paper is a proposed resubtitling of the subtitling for the deaf and hard-of-hearing (SDH) for the theatrical play Elefante, using strategies of textual reduction which may be suggested for this semiotic means as we produce new subtitles for the first ten minutes of the play. SDH is a modality of intersemiotic audiovisual translation, which consists of translating into subtitles dialogs and other information which are not present in them, such as the translation of sound effects and the speaker identification, pertaining to a theatrical production, rendering it accessible for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences. The methodology of this paper can be defined as a descriptive one, which analyzed the resubtitling process of a play according to the parameters advocated by Díaz Cintas and Remael (2007). The corpus was obtained from the subtitling created by Deise Medina and Adriana Urpia for the performance of the play Elefante, by Probástica Theater Company, held in Salvador, at Vila Velha Theater, in July 2016. The play tells the story of a young man who returns from the Isle of Seneca to a supposedly ideal society in which people do not get old. Thus, the main character, named Francisco, has a philosophical conversation with his parents and his wife. The hypothesis of the present paper argues in favor of strategies of textual reduction as a means of improving the production of SDH, as well as in favor of improvements within the comprehensive logistics of the facilities and the production and display of the SDH subtitles for the theater. The results show technical aspects pertaining to the edition of subtitles, such as the use of shorter synonyms or equivalent expressions, the omission of sentences, the adjustment of paralinguistic signals, as well as technical and logistics challenges related to daily practice of SDH professionals in Brazil.
