O presente estudo tem como objetivo compreender os motivos que levam as  famílias a negligenciarem a vida estudantil de seus membros em idade escolar, pois a ausência familiar na vida escolar dos alunos tem sido fator relevante no processo de desenvolvimento da aprendizagem das crianças e jovens que necessitam de uma educação de qualidade neste século. Percebe-se a ausência quanto à participação familiar na rotina escolar, suas causas e as consequências na vida estudantil, entre elas o abandono e a evasão escolar. Adotou-se a pesquisa bibliográfica que fundamentou-se teoricamente nos autores ALMEIDA (2005), SUCESSO (1999), dentre outros que embasam seus estudos e pesquisas na área educacional. Construído o referencial teórico, a pesquisa utilizou-se da abordagem qualitativa, buscando reconhecer que a questão da ausência familiar na vida escolar dos alunos é um problema que acarreta vários outros como o desinteresse, indisciplina, falta de compromisso com os estudos, consequente dificuldade de aprendizagem, e por últimos, a evasão e fracasso escolar. A pesquisa deixa claro que somente conhecer os aspectos da ausência familiar não resolve os problemas que lhe advém, mas já é um bom início, pois fornece caminhos por onde trilhar para a busca de soluções.

The present study aims to understand the reasons that lead families to neglect the student life of their school age members, since the family absence in the school life of the students has been a relevant factor in the development process of the learning of the children and young people who need a quality education in this century. The absence of family participation in the school routine, its causes and the consequences of this absence in its student life, which resulted in abandonment and school evasion. The absence of family participation in the school routine, its causes and the consequences in the life of the student, among them abandonment and school dropout, is noticed. We adopted the bibliographic research that was theoretically based on the authors ALMEIDA (2005), SUCESSO (1999), among others that base their studies and research in the educational area. Based on the theoretical reference, the research used the qualitative approach, seeking to recognize that the issue of family absence in the students' school life is a problem that causes several others such as lack of interest, lack of discipline, lack of commitment to studies, consequent difficulty of learning, and for last, school dropout and failure. The research makes clear that only knowing the aspects of family absence does not solve the problems that come to him, but it is already a good beginning, because it provides ways to search for solutions.
