O PAÍS DE LUTO: O SUICÍDIO DE GETÚLIO VARGAS

Resumo:
A presente pesquisa, intitulada ―O Suicídio de Getúlio Vargas nas Páginas do Correio do Ceará no Período de Agosto a Dezembro de 1954‖, enseja uma análise de aspectos da cobertura do jornal em questão a respeito do suicídio de Getúlio Vargas, discutindo os possíveis motivos que levaram seus editores e redatores a modificarem completa ou parcialmente as suas considerações relativas à figura do estadista gaúcho, tendo em vista que naquele momento a imprensa e outros veículos estavam livres de controle, coação, censura e fechamento; uma onda de redemocratização dominava as instituições políticas… Por isso, o ambiente jornalístico do último governo Vargas se caracterizou por uma verdadeira explosão contestadora, sob a gerência de determinados seguimentos de oposição. Dentro dessa perspectiva, o Correio do Ceará oportuniza uma avaliação singular da repercussão do suicídio de Getúlio Vargas, especialmente, na medida em que as massas nostálgicas, entristecidas e abaladas por sua morte, cristalizam um imaginário que passa a determinar a mudança do discurso jornalístico, sob a prerrogativa da concorrência com outros jornais; do fato de também ocupar a condição de produto a ser vendido; de um hipotético autopenitenciamento quanto à constante oposição feita ao presidente; pelo caráter próprio do jornal no compromisso com a informação ou ainda pela identificada tendência da redação em refletir o pensamento dos Diários Associados, pelo sugestivo reconhecimento dos valores e qualidades daquele seu objeto de tantas e tão diretas críticas; ou, ainda, pelo simples dever de informar, noticiar… cumprir um dos desideratos básicos da condição de jornal. Idéia essa extrapolada, na medida em que o Correio do Ceará produziu manchetes de caráter bombástico, lamuriante, estupefato e fúnebre. Palavras-chave: História. Getúlio Vargas. Imprensa. Jornais. Abstract:
The present research, entitled "The Suicide of Getúlio Vargas in the Pages of the Courier of Ceará in the Period from August to December of 1954", provides an analysis of aspects of the coverage of the newspaper in question about the suicide of Getúlio Vargas, discussing the possible motives which led its editors and editors to modify, in full or in part, their considerations regarding the figure of the statesman of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, since at that time the press and other vehicles were free of control, coercion, censorship and closure; a wave of redemocratization dominated the political institutions ... That is why the journalistic environment of the last Vargas government was characterized by a veritable blast of protest, under the management of certain segments of the opposition. In this perspective, the Correio do Ceará offers a unique evaluation of the repercussion of the suicide of Getúlio Vargas, especially as the nostalgic masses, saddened and shaken by his death, crystallize an imaginary that begins to determine the change of journalistic discourse, under the prerogative of competition with other newspapers; the fact that it also occupies the condition of product to be sold; of a hypothetical self-penitence regarding the constant opposition made to the president; by the journal's own character in the commitment to information or by the identified tendency of the writing to reflect the thinking of the Associated Diaries, by the suggestive recognition of the values and qualities of that its object of so many and so direct critics; or, moreover, for the simple duty to inform, to report ... to fulfill one of the basic desideratos of the newspaper condition. Idea this extrapolated, in that the Courier of the Ceará produced headlines of bombastic character, wailing, stupefied and funeral. Keywords: History. Getulio Vargas. Press. Newspapers.
