A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo tentar entender como a velhice é percebida na contemporaneidade. Tendo em vista que as pesquisas geralmente deixam de englobar sujeitos com essa faixa etária mais ampla, intencionou-se investigar como esse fenômeno é percebido por idosos com mais de 80 anos. Percebendo que a zona rural pertence a um ambiente marcado por dificuldades e complexidades, buscou-se ainda identificar como esse fenômeno é percebido por idosos moradores da zona rural. Esse enfoque investigativo permitiu a construção da hipótese de que a vivência da velhice é subjetiva, tendo em vista que a história e as memórias desses sujeitos são marcadas por diferenças significativas. Nesse sentido, objetiva-se aqui apresentar os principais aspectos que envolvem o fenômeno da velhice na contemporaneidade. Para tanto, foram entrevistados três idosos com idades de 88, 90 e 93 anos, sendo um homem e duas mulheres e a construção desse trabalho se deu através da perspectiva da pesquisa qualitativa. No primeiro capítulo, apresenta-se uma breve discussão acerca da contemporaneidade na visão de Zygmunt Bauman e como a velhice é percebida nesse momento. No segundo capítulo, apresenta-se o percurso metodológico que embasou a pesquisa. No terceiro capítulo, apresenta-se a análise dos dados obtidos através da entrevista, finalizando com as conclusões acerca do trabalho desenvolvido. De um modo geral, nota-se que a velhice se apresenta de um lado positiva e de outro lado negativa para os sujeitos entrevistados, confirmando que a velhice é um fenômeno heterogêneo e que para ser mais bem entendida, deve ser possibilitada aos sujeitos idosos a oportunidade de falar sobre sua vivência enquanto idosos hoje. Além disso, nota-se que a contemporaneidade como descrita por Bauman pareceu não chegar aos sujeitos entrevistados, o que possibilitou indagações.
The present research aims at trying to understand how old age is perceived in contemporaneity. Considering that research generally does not include subjects with this broader age, it was intended to investigate how this phenomenon is perceived by older people over 80 years of age. Realizing that the rural area belongs to an environment marked by difficulties and complexities, it was also sought to identify how this phenomenon is perceived by elderly people living in the rural area. This investigative approach allowed the construction of the hypothesis that the experience of old age is subjective, considering that the history and memories of these subjects are marked by significant differences. In this sense, it aims to present the main aspects that involve the phenomenon of old age in contemporary times. For that, three elderly people aged 88, 90 and 93 years old were interviewed, one man and two women, and the construction of this work was done through the perspective of qualitative research. In the first chapter, a brief discussion of contemporaneity is presented in the vision of Zygmunt Bauman and how oldness is perceived at that moment. In the second chapter, the methodological path that underlies the research is presented. In the third chapter, the analysis of the data obtained through the interview is presented, concluding with the conclusions about the work developed. In general, it is noted that old age presents on a positive side and on the other side negative for the subjects interviewed, confirming that old age is a heterogeneous phenomenon and that to be better understood, it should be possible for elderly subjects to opportunity to talk about their experience as seniors today. Moreover, it is noted that the contemporaneity as described by Bauman did not seem to reach the subjects interviewed, which allowed for inquiries.
