A Agricultura Urbana (AU), atividade caracterizada pelo cultivo de espécies vegetais de valor alimentar, medicinal e ornamental e a criação de pequenos e médios animais no espaço urbano, tem se constituído como provisão de emprego, renda e alimentação para as famílias residentes das cidades, além de favorecer a mitigação contra usos e ocupações indevidas em áreas de risco. Nesse contexto, o presente trabalho versa sobre a potencialidade de implantação da agricultura urbana nas áreas de risco de inundação do rio Coaçú no município de Fortaleza, onde se concentram setores ambientais estratégicos que se caracterizam pela exequibilidade da atividade, soma-se a isso, que nessa área correspondente ao Baixo Curso do Rio Coaçú, tem-se o exemplo real da Comunidade São Miguel do Brejo onde o plantio de hortaliças têm beneficiado uma família, cujas condições diferenciadas revelam o retorno social e financeiro da atividade. Logo, para identificação das áreas de risco à inundação e suas relações com os setores ambientais estratégicos propícios a execução desta atividade, optou-se pela análise integrada do ambiente e a adaptação de metodologias referentes à análise dos riscos e da agricultura urbana. Para concretização dos objetivos utilizou-se de levantamento bibliográfico e de dados secundários, a adaptação de projetos existentes em países cujas cidades estabelecem a AU dentro desses ambientes sujeitos à inundação, e o trabalho de campo no recorte espacial estudado com visitas em órgãos estaduais e municipais e laboratórios pertinentes, por fim, a utilização do ferramental de geoprocessamento para análise e elaboração do material cartográfico. Os resultados demonstram a viabilidade de implantação da AU como atividade potencial para ser difundida nos ambientes constituintes das áreas de risco de inundação fortalezense, subsidiando formas de inserção da prática nas áreas concernentes aos setores ambientais estratégicos.
Urban Agriculture (UA), an activity characterized by the cultivation of diverse plant species of food, medicinal and ornamental value and the breeding of small and medium-sized animals in the urban space, has been constituted as a provision of employment, income and food for the families living in the cities, besides contributing to the mitigation against improper uses and occupations in risk areas. In this context, the present study deals with the potential of urban agriculture development in the flood risk areas of the Coaçú River in the city of Fortaleza, where strategic environmental sectors are concentrated which are characterized by the feasibility of the activity. Adding to this, in this area corresponding to the Low Course of the Coaçú River, we have the empirical example of the Community of São Miguel do Brejo, where the horticultural plantation have benefited a family, whose different conditions reveal the social and financial return obtained from the activity. Therefore, in order to identify the flood risk areas and their relationships with the strategic environmental sectors conducive to carrying out this activity, it has been opted for the integrated analysis of the environment and the adaptation of methodologies related to risk analysis and urban agriculture. In order to achieve the objectives, a bibliographic survey also of secondary data was used, as well as the adaptation of existing projects in countries whose cities establish UA within these flood-prone environments, the fieldwork in the spacial cut studied with visits to state and municipal agencies and relevant laboratories and, finally, the use of the geoprocessing tool for the analysis and elaboration of cartographic material. The results demonstrated the feasibility of the implantation of UA as a potential activity to be disseminated in the environments that constitute the flood risk areas in Fortaleza city, subsidizing the way of insertion of the practice in the areas related to the strategic environmental sectors.
