Em ―Cantando a morte: a reinvenção das Incelenças na cidade de Barbalha-CE (1985-2015)‖ é analisado um ritual fúnebre praticado por um grupo de mulheres, religiosas e, em sua maioria, idosas que outrora cantavam os benditos de incelenças – canções com melodias lúgubre – no Sítio Cabeceiras e nas suas imediações. A pesquisa apresenta, inicialmente, uma contextualização dos rituais fúnebres na região do Cariri cearense. Em seguida, expõe as permanências e mudanças sofridas pelo grupo de mulheres a partir da intervenção da Secretaria de Cultura do município de Barbalha-CE e, como esses sujeitos significam suas práticas culturais e as (re) inventam para atender as novas demandas da cultura popular. Por fim, problematiza-se como as políticas públicas de cultura no Brasil contemporâneo vão ressignificando essas práticas culturais – com a invenção de grupos, introdução de novos instrumentos e o envolvimento de outros sujeitos – num ritual que outrora era resguardado ao convívio familiar. A pesquisa realizou-se por intermédio da observação em campo e de entrevistas, mediante o uso da metodologia de História Oral, com as mulheres das incelenças, penitentes e agentes da Secretaria de Cultura da cidade de Barbalha-CE. À vista disso, foi possível compreender que as mulheres das incelenças, juntamente com os agentes culturais, (re) inventam a tradição ritual de entoar as incelenças num jogo constante de conflitos e resistências.
In "Singing Death: The Re-invention of Incarnations in the City of Barbalha-CE (1985-2015)" a funeral ritual performed by a group of women, religious and mostly elderly women who once sang the blessed of incarceration - songs with dreary melodies - in the Cabeceiras Site and in its immediate vicinity it is studied. The research presents, initially, a contextualization of funeral rituals in the Cariri region of Ceará. Then, it exposes the permanences and changes suffered by the women's group from the intervention of the Department of Culture of the municipality of Barbalha-CE and how these subjects signify their cultural practices and (re) invent new demands of popular culture . Finally, it is questioned how the public policies of culture in contemporary Brazil are re-signifying these cultural practices - with the invention of groups, introduction of new instruments and the involvement of other subjects - in a ritual that was once sheltered from family life. The research wascarried out through field observation and interviews, through the use of Oral History methodology, with the women of the incarcerations, penitents and agents of the Secretariat of Culture of the city of Barbalha-CE. In view of this, it was possible to understand that the women of the incelencias, together with the cultural agents, (re) invent the ritual tradition of chanting the incelencias in a constant game of conflicts and resistances.
