Resumo:
O presente trabalho busca discutir a vida teatral na cidade de Sobral-CE, pensando o teatro em sentido lato, ou seja, as práticas teatrais, os espaços e companhias dramáticas em sua relação com a sociedade, procurando abordá-lo de forma a entrever novas perspectivas de interpretação da cultura e da vida urbana local. Entre as últimas décadas do século XIX e as primeiras do século XX a cidade de Sobral deu espaço à construção de pelos menos três casas de espetáculos, ilustrando os movimentos de uma sociedade que buscava se aproximar dos prazeres urbanos modernos, na qual a relação entre o teatro e a cidade nos direciona a pensar a aproximação entre vida teatral e o conceito de sociabilidade. Pois, mais que seu aspecto físico no tecido urbano, a presença das casas de espetáculos incide sobre as relações entre os sujeitos, justamente no que une pessoalidade e convívio em sociedade a partir da formação do comportamento coletivo dito civilizado. Além de uma função estética ou de fruição artística o teatro ocupa relevante lugar no processo de formação urbana, sendo ao mesmo tempo influenciado e influenciador da circulação de ideias, disseminação de usos e costumes, tendo as vertentes cênicas do melodrama e das comédias ligeiras corroborado com os processos de difusão de padrões de comportamento. Assim, buscamos pensar o fazer teatral enquanto lócus das representações que os sujeitos construíam sobre si e sobre o mundo, lugar aonde os homens iam para ver os espetáculos, mas também para verem-se e serem vistos integrados às regras da “boa vida social”, entendendo, a partir de autores como Simmel, Goffman e Berger, as relações entre teatro e sociedade, palco e plateia.

Abstract:
The present work seeks to discuss the theatrical life in the city of Sobral-CE, thinking the theater in a broad sense, that is, theatrical practices, spaces and dramatic companies and their relationship with society, trying to approach it in order to glimpse new perspectives on the interpretation of culture and local urban life. Between the last decades of the nineteenth century and the first decades of the twentieth century, the city of Sobral gave way to the construction of at least three spectacle houses, illustrating the movements of a society that sought to approach modern urban pleasures, in which the relation between the theater and the city directs us to think the approximation between theatrical life and the concept of sociability. For, more than its physical appearance in the urban fabric, the presence of the spectacle houses focuses on the relations between the subjects, precisely in what unites personality and conviviality in society from the formation of the civilized collective behavior. In addition to an aesthetic function or artistic enjoyment, theater occupies a relevant place in the process of urban formation, being at the same time influenced and influential of the circulation of ideas, dissemination of customs and customs, with the scenic aspects of melodrama and light comedies corroborated with the processes of diffusion of patterns of behavior. Thus, we sought to think of theater as a locus of the representations that the subjects constructed about themselves and the world, where men went to see the spectacles, but also to see themselves and to be seen integrated to the rules of "good social life", I understand from the authors like Simmel, Goffman and Berger, the relations between theater and society, stage and audience.
