REPRESENTAÇÕES SOCIAIS DO CORPO PARA IDOSAS FREQUENTADORAS DE ACADEMIAS

RESUMO
O corpo pode ser compreendido como um objeto de relevância no envelhecimento populacional, em especial, para as mulheres. Compreendendo esse processo, a enfermagem pode desenvolver ações educativas a partir das demandas sociais identificadas pelas representações sociais (RS). Assim, objetivou-se apreender as RS do corpo por mulheres idosas frequentadoras de academias; identificar os conteúdos que integram as RS do corpo pelas idosas frequentadoras de academias e descrever quais características moldam as RS do corpo dessas mulheres. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório e descritivo, fundamentado na Teoria das Representações Sociais, realizado em três academias de ginástica da cidade de Fortaleza-CE, sorteadas em duas Regionais, no período de julho a outubro de 2015. A amostra foi constituída de 108 idosas que frequentavam academias há, no mínimo, seis meses e realizavam exercícios físicos três ou mais vezes por semana. Foram excluídas as idosas que não frequentavam a academia com regularidade. Para a coleta de dados, utilizou-se, inicialmente, a técnica de associação livre de palavras; depois, as idosas responderam a um questionário sociodemográfico e, por fim, realizou-se a entrevista em profundidade. A análise dos dados ocorreu de forma descritiva, lexicográfica e de similitude, a fim de caracterizar a população e identificar a estrutura e a organização das RS. Os termos indutores corpo e corpo velho foram representados de forma diferente pelas idosas, sendo o primeiro representado por um corpo saudável, belo, magro, sarado e cuidado, ressaltando os aspectos físicos e biológicos; a mente apareceu separada do corpo, retratando uma visão dualista; e os elementos braço, cabeça e perna conferiram significância aos membros isolados. Observou-se, ainda, que o elemento saúde apareceu de forma mais frequente e estruturante em relação aos demais, enquanto magro foi o termo mais prontamente citado pelas idosas. O segundo termo indutor, corpo velho, foi representado pelos elementos centrais cansaço, doença e tristeza, enquadrados nos aspectos patológicos e afetivos, sendo cansaço o termo de maiores frequência e ordem de prioridade. Além disso, os resultados indicaram que a organização interna das RS deu-se pela importância das mudanças corporais da mulher idosa, revelando quais eram as características positivas e negativas do envelhecimento. Concluiu-se, a partir das RS do corpo apresentadas, que há necessidade de ações educativas sobre o tema voltadas para a reflexão dos profissionais e da sociedade como um todo, com vistas a fortalecer uma imagem positiva do corpo da mulher idosa na contemporaneidade.
The body can be understood as a relevant object in the aging of the population, especially for women. By understanding this process, nurses can develop educational activities from the social demands identified by social representations (SR). Thus, one aimed to grasp the SR of the bodies of elderly women who go to the gym; identify the contents that make up the SR of the bodies of elderly women who go to the gym; and describe what characteristics shape the SR of these women‟s bodies. This is an exploratory and descriptive study based on the theory of social representations, carried out in three gyms in the city of Fortaleza-CE, drawn in two regional city hall offices, from July to October 2015. The sample consisted of 108 elderly women who had been going to the gyms for at least six months and who exercised three or more times a week. The elderly women who did not attend the gym regularly were excluded. To collect data, one used initially the technique of free association of words; then the elderly women answered a socio-demographic questionnaire and, finally, there was an in-depth interview. Data analysis was conducted in a descriptive, lexicographical and similitude way in order to characterize the population and identify the structure and organization of SR. The inducing terms body and old body were represented differently by the elderly, the first was represented by a healthy, beautiful, thin, fit and well-built body, highlighting the physical and biological aspects; the mind appeared separated from the body, portraying a dualistic view; and the elements arm, head and leg gave significance to the individual members. It was also observed that the health element appeared in a more frequent and structural way in relation to the others, while the thin element was the term most readily mentioned by the elderly. The second inducing term, old body, was represented by the central elements fatigue, illness and sadness, framed in pathological and affective aspects, and tiredness was the most frequent term in order of priority. In addition, the results indicated that the internal organization of the SR was due to the importance of body changes of elderly women, revealing what were the positive and negative characteristics of aging. One concluded from the SR of body presented, that there is the need for educational activities on the subject focused on the reflection of professionals and society as a whole in order to strengthen a positive image of the bodies of elderly women in the contemporary world.
