ABSTRACT
The present dissertation has as main purpose, highlight the relevance of
interdisciplinary between Literature and History, how much the historical sources
influence in the creation of art, how art can bring traces of a period and what this
dialogic relation reveal us about the style of the writer Autran Dourado. We believe
that literature has the autonomy of conducting the possibilities inside the new created
universe, although we recognize in such narrative the unavoidable participation of
historical elements. We approach, for this analysis, the concepts of time and space in
the fictional and historical scopes and we gather female characters whose stories get
closer to real women experiences. Therefore, thanks to the Honório Cota clan,
created by Autran in the books Lucas Procópio (1985), Um cavalheiro de
antigamente (1992) and Ópera dos mortos (1967), it is possible to recognize the
external elements to his works as indispensable to the production, which mention
Minas Gerais, its rise and decay through the gold.
