ABSTRACT
This research has as object of study the piano initiation method of Elvira Drummond. We aim
at understanding the motivations and theoretical foundations that support the teaching
method, as well as communicate and demonstrate the effectiveness of its proposal. In order
to do so, we have conducted a bibliographical survey of authors cited by Drummond in the
interview that was taken as a reference for this research. From this study, we verified the
progressive mode with which Elvira develops her teaching plan, always taking into account
the different stages of child development. This method favors the activities of piano teachers,
working as a script and showing the step by step that must be followed in the process of
musical awareness and instrumental training. This is a qualitative and reflexive study that is
based on the current musical pedagogy.
