O Discurso de Hugo Chávez como instrumento articulador de uma unidade latino-americana

Esta dissertação apresenta uma análise crítico-interpretativa do discurso do presidente venezuelano Hugo Rafael Chávez Frias em sua estratégia de legitimação de uma representação da unidade dos povos latino-americanos, no espaço de lutas por hegemonia na América Latina. Esta pesquisa está baseada nos pressupostos teórico-metodológicos da Análise do Discurso Crítica (CHOULIARAKI & FAIRCLOUGH, 1999; FAIRCLOUGH 2003) e estabelece uma articulação teórica com uma vertente da Análise do Discurso Francesa (MAINGUENEAU, 2008; CHARAUDEAU, 2006) e os estudos sobre hegemonia (GRAMSCI, 2007) e ideologia (EAGLETON, 1997). Inicialmente, analiso a conjuntura e as relações histórico-sociais que constituíram o processo de disputa hegemônica no continente americano. Em seguida, realizo a análise linguístico-discursiva dos pronunciamentos do presidente venezuelano que constituem o corpus desta pesquisa. Este trabalho tem como objetivo geral investigar de que maneiras o presidente Hugo Chávez constitui o seu discurso como representação de uma unidade latino-americana, no espaço de luta hegemônica contra o imperialismo estadunidense, e se desdobra em três objetivos específicos: investigação das maneiras de agir do presidente Hugo Chávez, a partir da análise da intertextualidade presente nos discursos do líder bolivariano; investigação das maneiras de representar o projeto bolivariano de unidade latino-americana, a partir da análise da interdiscursividade presente em seus discursos; e investigação das maneiras do presidente Hugo Chávez identificar-se como legítimo defensor dos povos latino-americanos e um sucessor de Bolívar, a partir de uma análise dos ethé discursivamente construídos. A análise sócio-discursiva realizada permite investigar os efeitos de sentidos produzidos neste processo de disputa hegemônica e discutir as implicações ético-políticas dos jogos de poder. Abstract:
This dissertation presents a critical-interpretative analysis of the Venezuelan president Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías’ discourse in his strategy of legitimating the representation of unity of the Latin American peoples, in the space of hegemonic struggles in Latin America. This research is based the theoretical-methodological presuppositions of the Critical Discourse Analysis (Chouliaraki & Fairclough, 1999; Fairclough 2003) and establishes a theoretical articulation with a wing of the French Discourse Analysis (MAINGUENEAU, 2008; CHARAUDEAU, 2006) and the studies about hegemony (GRAMSCI, 2007) and ideology (EAGLETON, 1997). First, I analyze the conjuncture and describe the social-historical relationships that constituted the hegemonic dispute process in the American continent. Then, I make the linguistic-discursive analysis of the announcements of the Venezuelan president that constitute the corpus of this research. This work aims to investigate the ways president Hugo Chávez constituted his discourse as representation of a Latin American unity in the space of the hegemonic struggles against US imperialism and unfolds into three specific objectives: to investigate the ways Hugo Chávez acts from the analysis of the intertextuality present in the Bolivarian leader’s discourses; to investigate the ways of representation of the Bolivarian project of Latin American unity from the interdiscursivity present in his discourses; and to investigate the ways Hugo Chávez identifies himself as the legitimate protector of the Latin American peoples and heir to Bolívar, departing from an analysis of the discursively constructed ethé. The socio-discursive analysis conducted allows for the investigation of the feeling effects generated in this process of hegemonic dispute, and the discussion of the ethical-political implications of the power games.
