Colégio Agrícola de Teresina: um agente de produção urbano teresinense (1954-1976)

Resumo:
A educação é um importante agente na análise espacial, especialmente, quando este serviço
torna-se alvo de investimentos elevados em determinado contexto sócio-histórico e político econômico. A oferta desse serviço agrega em seu entorno uma série de outros investimentos
atraindo a mobilidade de pessoas e mercadorias. Enfim, a educação se constitui num processo
concentrador de fixos e fluxos. Para demonstrar tal força da educação enquanto agente de
produção do espaço urbano teresinense tomamos como objeto de estudo o Colégio Agrícola
de Teresina, instalado em 1955, e que se mantém em funcionamento até os dias atuais,
fornecendo educação técnica e profissionalizante de qualidade à população local e, assim,
possibilitar o Piauí galgar o desenvolvimento econômico. A análise do processo de
implantação dessa instituição revelou um emaranhado de relações sociopolíticas, econômicas
e culturais envolvendo grupos sociais locais e as compreendendo a partir da relação
sociedade, espaço e cultura. No decorrer desse processo o CAT subsidiou a implantação do
Centro Ciências Agrárias da Universidade Federal o Piauí, ao ser incorporado por esta
instituição. Assim, para entender a análise da organização espacial decorrente da implantação
da escola agrícola no espaço geográfico teresinense traçada em nossa pesquisa, bem como a
trama de relações que se sucederam nesse processo nos fundamentamos em Passos (2001),
Castelo Branco (2010), Façanha (1998), Corrêa (2000) e Tuan (1983). O CAT promoveu
mudanças significativas na fisionomia espacial urbana da capital piauiense. Nota-se que,
transpondo suas conceituações enquanto instrumental de análise e compreensão de espaço e
práticas espaciais, e de lugar, é possível afirmar que essa instituição educacional configurou se como importante fator no processo de expansão da zona urbana teresinense, pois, com o
passar dos anos, direcionou e foi englobada pela malha urbana, integrando-a.

Abstract:
Education is an important agent in spatial analysis, especially when this service becomes a
target of high investments in a particular socio-historical and political-economical context.
The provision of that service aggregates in its surrounding, a lot of other investments,
attracting the mobility of people and goods. Finally, education is a process that is made of
fixes and streams. To demonstrate such strength of education as an agent of the production of
the urban space in Teresina, we used as the object of study the Colégio Agrícola de Teresina –
CAT, founded in 1955, and still in operation to this day, providing vocational and technical
education of quality to the local population and helping Piauí state to reach an economic
development. The analysis of the deployment process of this institution, revealed a tangle of
socio-political relations, economic and cultural, involving local social groups, from the
relationship between society, space and culture. During this process, CAT has subsidized the
deployment of the Center of Agrarian Sciences in the Federal University of Piauí, being
incorporated by that institution. Thus, to understand the analysis of the spatial organization
resulting from the implementation of the agricultural college in the geographical space of
Teresina studied in our research, as well as the Web of relations that followed this process,
based in Passos (2001), Castelo Branco (2010), Façanha, (1998), Corrêa (2000) and Tuan
(1983). CAT promoted significant changes in urban spatial physiognomy of the capital of
Piauí. We notice that transposing their ideas as instrumental of analysis and comprehension of
space and spatial practices and of place, it is possible to say that this educational institution is
configured as an important factor in the process of expansion in the Teresina‘s urban zone,
because over the years, directed the urban space and was enclosed by it, integrating it.
