Resumo:
Esta dissertação é o resultado de uma pesquisa onde, a partir de leituras das obras de
Rogério Bacon, buscou-se entender o pensamento do autor sobre o fundamento do
saber. Investigando seu contexto e as influências recebidas por ele, procurou-se
destacar o seu método e apontar os pontos principais do projeto de reforma pretendido
pelo pensador e que se delineava em três pontos principais: o fortalecimento da Igreja
com o estabelecimento da república dos fiéis, a conversão dos infiéis e o combate aos
que não podiam ser convertidos. Compreende-se a partir do estudo do autor que estes
eram pontos importantes que reforçavam a sua idéia de submissão da Filosofia à
Teologia. Buscou-se ainda enfatiza o caráter científico de sua obra na apresentação de
sua classificação das ciências e na sua concepção de saber, e o caráter filosófico do
seu projeto, uma vez que este buscava uma transformação da sociedade através do
amadurecimento moral do homem. A pesquisa que resultou nesta dissertação foi
norteada pela pergunta: qual o sentido moral do saber no pensamento de Rogério
Bacon? Para ele se as ciências eram apreendidas sem a oportunidade de aplicação na
construção de um novo homem e um novo mundo, este saber era imperfeito, não se
podendo considerar o sentido moral do saber. A busca de respostas conduziu a um
recompensado aprendizado de que esta questão nascida num cenário medieval é
atualíssima visto que se vive um tempo onde as questões éticas se fazem necessárias
já que a humanidade perdeu o sentido para a busca e a aplicação do saber.

Abstract:
This dissertation is the result of a research where, starting from reading of the works of
Roger Bacon, it was looked for to understand the author’s thought on the foundation of
the knowledge. Investigating his context and the influences received by him, it tried to
detach his method and to point the main parts of the reform project intended by the
thinker and that was delineated in three main points: the invigoration of the Church with
the stabilishment of the follow’s republic, the unbeliever’s conversion and the combat to
the that could not be converted. Important points that reinforced his idea of the
submission of the Philosophy to the Theology. This work still emphasized the scientific
character of his work in the presentation o his classification of the sciences and his
conception of wisdom, and the philosophical character of his project, once this looked
for a transformation of the through the man’s moral ripening. The research that results in
this dissertation work was orientated by the question: which the moral sense of the
knowledge in Roger Bacon’s thought? For him the sciences didn’t have meaning unless
they could be applied in the reality, in another way, they would be empty and useless.
Besides, if the sciences were apprehended without the application opportunity in a new
man’s and a new world’s construction, this knowledge was imperfect. The search of
answers drove it one rewarded learning that is born subject in a medieval scenery is
current seen that we live a time where are insisted necessary since the human being
lost the sense for the search and the application of the knowledge.
