O presente estudo tem amparo nos seguintes referenciais: Cavalcante et al. (2022); Fortes; Cavalcante (2015); Cavalcante (2005); Cavalcante, Alves, Lima (2023); Pimenta e Lima (2017, 2019); Aroeira e Pimenta (2018); Martins et al. (2023); Costa, Freitas e Silva (2023); Teixeira; Torres (2024); Costa et al. (2022); Ribeiro, Loureiro e Torres (2022); Libâneo (2015); Nóvoa (2009, 2022); Saviani (2017); dentre outros.

Abstract:
This study is part of the research line Didactic Training and Teaching Work of the Graduate Program in Education at the State University of Ceará. It addresses the following central question: did the connections between the Pedagogical Residency Program and the Curricular Internship contribute to the professional teaching identity of former residents of the Pedagogy course at URCA? The general objective is to understand how the links between the Pedagogical Residency Program and the Curricular Internship contributed to the professional teaching identity of former residents of the Pedagogy course at URCA. The specific objectives are: (1) to examine the historical and legal frameworks of the Pedagogical Residency Program and the Curricular Internship and to identify the connections between them; (2) to reflect on how the Pedagogical Residency Program interfaces with the Curricular Internship in the process of teacher education in the Pedagogy course; and (3) to analyze former residents’ perceptions of the construction of their professional identity based on the interface between the PRP and the Curricular Internship. This study is grounded in the following theoretical references: Cavalcante et al. (2022); Fortes and Cavalcante (2015); Cavalcante (2005); Cavalcante, Alves, and Lima (2023); Pimenta and Lima (2017, 2019); Aroeira and Pimenta (2018); Martins et al. (2023); Costa, Freitas, and Silva (2023); Teixeira and Torres (2024); Costa et al. (2022); Ribeiro, Loureiro, and Torres (2022); Libâneo (2015); Nóvoa (2009, 2022); Saviani (2017), among others. The research is based on a qualitative approach, using narrative research. Participants included four former residents of the Pedagogical Residency Program (PRP) from the Pedagogy undergraduate program at the Regional University of Cariri (Ceará), as well as the professor who coordinated the Pedagogy subproject in the 2022–2024 edition. Narrative interviews were used as the research instrument. The narratives were analyzed through Discursive Textual Analysis (DTA), following Moraes and Galiazzi (2016). Two main pieces of evidence emerged from the study. First, we argue that the construction of teaching identity is essential for professional practice, the development of critical thinking, and the struggle for dignified living and working conditions. Participation in the PRP provided school and academic experiences that enriched undergraduate education and continued to influence participants at the beginning of their teaching careers. We also affirm that the Pedagogical Residency Program does not replace the Curricular Internship, as it does not, on its own, encompass all the nuances required for teacher education.
The second piece of evidence concerns the distribution of curricular internship hours, making it clear that this curricular component should be offered from the beginning of the course. The thesis defended is that the Supervised Curricular Internship is central to teacher education and to the configuration of professional identity, permeating formative actions at both the university and the field school. For it to fulfill its formative role, investments in infrastructure, curricular organization, and an expansion of workload are necessary. We also argue that the Pedagogical Residency Program, through the Pedagogy subproject (2022–2024), enhanced the development of professional teaching identity through the actions carried out within the program.
Keywords: pedagogical residency; curricular internship; professional teaching identity.
