A história das mulheres na Matemática está sendo cada vez mais discutida e, com isso, ganhando visibilidade perante a sociedade, tendo sido, durante muito tempo, apagada e deixada de lado. Relacionado a isso, existem vários motivos que afetam e influenciam a atuação, o rendimento e o progresso feminino nesse meio, sendo fundamental a implementação de estratégias com o intuito de criar uma cultura que valorize e apoie as meninas nessas áreas. Pensando nisso, a presente pesquisa tem por objetivo mapear iniciativas que estimulem as mulheres a ingressar e permanecer no campo da Matemática, apresentando as principais características dos programas e projetos existentes, revelando sua importância e explorando, ainda, as possibilidades do que ainda pode ser feito. Dessa forma, para a identificação desses projetos e programas foi realizado, metodologicamente, por meio de um mapeamento sistemático, com a finalidade de determinar e caracterizar as propostas existentes relacionadas à temática e análises de dados institucionais sobre a participação feminina nessa área, buscando entender as barreiras enfrentadas e as motivações para a escolha e permanência no curso. Nesse sentido, foram selecionadas 11 iniciativas em vigência, principalmente as que investem financeiramente em bolsas de estudos, prêmios, projetos e programas para as mulheres, sendo preocupações de diferentes órgãos. Como resultado, notou-se que há certo investimento por parte de organizações e governos em promover ações de incentivo, tendo como público-alvo meninas da Educação Básica à Educação Superior, objetivando despertar o interesse delas pela carreira em Ciências, Tecnologia, Engenharia e Matemática (STEM, na sigla em inglês), além de incentivar o ingresso, permanência e o avanço delas no campo. Cumpre salientar que a desvantagem das mulheres nesse campo do conhecimento não está relacionada à habilidade cognitiva, mas sim ao processo de aprendizagem e socialização nos ambientes nos quais estão inseridas, sendo afetadas pelas crenças, discursos e comportamentos das pessoas ao seu redor, como professores e familiares. Com isso, desvendar essas causas é essencial para criar espaços igualitários, possibilitando melhores oportunidades e caminhos para as meninas seguirem. Pensando nisso, é necessário mais esforços para conseguir mudar a realidade, com o intuito de diminuir os fatores de afastamento e destacar os de aproximação da mulher à STEM, buscando atingir a paridade de gênero o quanto antes.
Abstract:
The history of women in Mathematics is increasingly being discussed and, as a result, gaining visibility in society, having been long erased and left aside. Related to this, there are several reasons that affect and influence women's performance, performance and progress in this field, and it is essential to implement strategies to create a culture that values and supports girls in these areas. With this in mind, this research aims to map initiatives that encourage women to enter and remain in the field of Mathematics, presenting the main characteristics of existing programs and projects, revealing their importance and also exploring the possibilities of what can still be done. Thus, to identify these projects and programs, a systematic mapping was carried out methodologically, with the purpose of determining and characterizing existing proposals related to the theme and analyzing institutional data on female participation in this area, seeking to understand the barriers faced and the motivations for choosing and remaining in the course. In this sense, 11 current initiatives were selected, mainly those that invest financially in scholarships, awards, projects and programs for women, which are concerns of different agencies. As a result, it was noted that there is some investment by organizations and governments in promoting incentive actions, targeting girls from Basic Education to Higher Education, aiming to awaken their interest in careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), in addition to encouraging their entry, permanence and advancement in the field. It is important to emphasize that the disadvantage of women in this field of knowledge is not related to cognitive ability, but rather to the learning and socialization process in the environments in which they are inserted, being affected by the beliefs, speeches and behaviors of the people around them, such as teachers and family members. Therefore, unraveling these causes is essential to create egalitarian spaces, enabling better opportunities and paths for girls to follow. With this in mind, more efforts are needed to change reality, with the aim of reducing the factors that distance women and highlighting those that bring them closer to STEM, seeking to achieve gender parity as soon as possible.
